Orthobiologics & Regenerative Orthopedic Therapies

Regenerative orthopedic treatments, including PRP, that harness your body's own healing capacity. Non-surgical care in Port St. Lucie and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

What are orthobiologics?

They are the body’s own repair machinery, concentrated and put where it is needed — growth factors, signalling proteins and regenerative cells delivered into damaged tissue. In sport that distinction matters. An athlete does not need a tendon that stops hurting; they need one that holds up under load. Orthobiologics are aimed at the quality of the repair, not at muting the symptom.

That is the difference from an anti-inflammatory or a cortisone shot. Those buy quiet; these are aimed at the tissue itself, and at slowing the degeneration underneath.

They come up for arthritis, muscle strains, sprained ligaments, irritated tendons, cartilage damage, and the chronic joint pain that conventional care has not resolved.

What you are offered depends on the injury, how you live and what you are trying to get back to — there is no single protocol handed to everyone.

What do we use them for?

Early to Moderate Osteoarthritis

Slows the wear and supports what cushioning is left.

Tendonitis / Tendinopathy

Quiets the inflammation and pushes the tendon toward repair.

Ligament Sprains and Partial Tears

Supports collagen rebuilding where a ligament is partly torn.

Muscle Strains and Soft Tissue Injuries

Speeds tissue repair and shortens the time out.

Chronic Joint Swelling or Irritation

Settles a joint that stays swollen and irritable.

Residual Pain After Previous Surgery

Improves tissue quality and eases stiffness left after an operation.

Athletic Overuse Injuries

Keeps an athlete recovering without taking them out entirely.

Degenerative Tissue Changes With Aging

Supports repair in tissue that has weakened with age.

Why consider them

  • Aimed at the tissue itself rather than at the symptom
  • Pain and inflammation reduced without medication
  • Supports repair in tendon, ligament, cartilage and soft tissue
  • May push a joint replacement further away, in the right patient
  • An injection, not an operation, with little downtime
  • Works harder when paired with proper rehabilitation
  • Tissue that heals stronger, not just quieter
  • Movement, stability and joint function as the target
  • Biologically compatible — it is your own repair machinery
  • A plan built around your activity level and your goals

The most common of these is platelet-rich plasma. PRP injections has its own page.

FAQ

Common Patient Questions

No, and they work in opposite directions. Cortisone suppresses inflammation for a while; orthobiologics are trying to provoke repair.

Gentle movement comes back quickly. Load is added in stages as the tissue tolerates it.

Sometimes — most realistically with early arthritis, tendon problems and partial ligament tears. It is not a substitute for surgery where surgery is genuinely needed.

Gradually, over several weeks. This is not the immediate relief a cortisone injection gives, and that is rather the point.

Yes. Which preparation, and how much, depends on the injury, how severe it is and what you need afterwards.

Less pain and inflammation, better joint function, support for tissue repair, and a recovery that does not take you out of action for long.

Usually someone with early arthritis, a tendon or ligament injury, cartilage damage, or joint pain that conservative treatment has not shifted.
